I saw this movie before seeing Tom Hardy's performance in 'Lawless' with Shia LeBouf. I didn't even realize it was the same actor he had so completely disappeared into his role. After watching 'Lawless', I HAD to watch 'This Means War' again, and I had to pick my jaw up off the floor at the end.his performance is amazing.
'This Means War' is a FUN comedy/romance movie with two friends who work for the CIA and accidentally begin dating the same woman (Reese Witherspoon). Chris Pine and Tom Hardy are the two secret agents who begin an all-out war to win her affections. There is lots of good action, especially the scene in which Tom Hardy takes Reese Witherspoon to play paintball! OH MY GOSH, that is HILARIOUS! This movie is well worth the 1 1/2 hours of pure fun and entertainment. The BEST film to be released in 2016, thus far.
We get a great story, that slowly builds to an exciting, and surprising end. Everything that a great film should be. However, it is the strength of the dialogue, and characters that really have you smiling as you leave the theater.
Watch This Means War starring Reese Witherspoon in this Comedy on DIRECTV. It's available to watch on TV, online, tablets, phone. Really Not one of Tom Hardy`s Best movie roll`s i must say. And it was pretty much predictable from start to finish. Its ok but nothing outstanding and certainly not a movie you will remember. Im giving `This `Means War` a 5 out of 10 rating and i think im being more than generous by rating it a 5 (out of 10).
Ben Foster, who I first saw in another indie film, The Messenger, is amazing as one of two brothers, looking to execute a plan. Chris Pine, plays it cool as a perfect voice of reason, to his brother's loose cannon persona.
Jeff Bridges takes his role somewhere between Tommy Lee Jones, in No Country for Old Men, and his great remake of True Grit. Either way, always a joy to watch. Gil Birmingham offers great support to Bridges character, and there is aclassic restaurant scene, with an older waitress, that should be instantly added to classic scene trivia. When this movie ended I felt all warm & fuzzy. I wanted more time in these characters lives & I wanted it to continue.Reese was amazing.
Her character was so real for me. Being a single Mom of two children myself whom, are now young adults.
I tested the same waters as she did a little more deeply. I love Michael Sheen in anything.
I imagine his hug to be unforgettable & I imagine he smells fantastic. I truly adore Reid Scott & I wish I would have seen him in more films.

The girls, what can you say about gifted & talented? Outstanding actors. The guys-well, alone they were all powerful in their own ways.

Together they worked off each other flawlessly. I will actually google all of them to see what other works of film they all have completed. They are all actors to watch for in my book!! As a 33 year old male I have no idea how or when I decided to rent this, but late one night my brain had an idea I wasn't aware of and here I am after watching this movie writing this review. It was good. Obviously Meryl Streep was the corner stone to the cast that held it all together to make the movie as great as it was. I enjoyed it for the simple fact I got to see her in a more broadway-style role for once. I'd adopt her as my grandmother any day of the week.Using young actors in films is a slippery slope, and yes Red Riding Hood's actress was the weakness of the whole film (plot aside).
Collectively it pulled through: Good sense of humor throughout the film and enough going on to keep my attention. It's definitely a film geared towards the. I enjoyed this little film quite a lot and don't entirely get why critics weren't more in favor of it.
The always immensely appealing Chris Pine lifted this out of the ho-hum category without a doubt. His range of emotion is always spot-on, and that twinkle in his eye makes him a joy to watch. Turns out the man can sing as well! That's a lot in one neat package. Who knew Captain Kirk had so many tricks up his sleeve? As for the rest of the cast, which includes Pine's father Robert in a supporting role, everybody brought their A-game to the table.
Believe me, there are lots of movies that do not deliver what this one does. If you are looking for a diverting afternoon's pleasure, you have found your meat if you elect to give this one a try. Formally thought this was a stinky mess when I watched it on my 'What it is, What it Was' 10 movie box set. Grainy Pan and Scan piece of poop. After watching the new Director's edition from Code Red, I can't believe how much picture I've been missing.
Not only was the P/S cropped on this sides, but the top and bottom were slightly cropped as well! The director's cut adds about 10 minutes, and I'm glad to finally see it now, as some scenes were so abruptly cut in the P/S, it just didn't make sense to cut them, unless to get the movie under 1.5 hours. One scene in particular, is when Barrows is pointing 2 double barrel shotguns at 2 bad guys. Close ups of each gun are restored here, before any shots are taken. Simple, but makes the scene a lot cooler than the cut version. The acting is.
Stargate SG-1 got cancelled before all of the story arcs could be concluded, and one of these was the threat of the Ori. The Ori were (was?) a group of ascended beings who were trying to obtain dominion over everyone who wasn't ascended, and promoted this through a quasi-religion.
'Priors' would appear on unconverted worlds and advise everyone that they could accept 'Origin' as the basis for their lives, or face destruction. They were really good at the destruction part, due to some nifty technology and a seemingly limitless supply of warships.' The Ark of Truth' concludes this story line. Without creating spoilers, it's basically an extended SG-1 episode with some great location shots and a hair better visual effects than usual. It also sets the stage for additional adventures, should the market support more Stargate SG-1 specials like this.Extras on the DVD include some. Hadn't seen this film for a while and watched this new Blu-ray last night.
Absolutely loved it. The picture is incredibly clear and the colors are marvelous. The sound is great as well.
There are numerous extras including interviews with Gregory Peck's children, Charlton Heston's son and director William Wyler's daughter, a documentary on Wyler including out-takes, the original trailer for this film, etc. The film is still epic with incredible scenery and the great cast including Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, Carroll Baker, Jean Simmons, Charles Bickford, Chuck Connors and Burl Ives who gives a towering performance that won the best supporting actor Oscar that year. The theme music by Jerome Maross is one of the best remembered western film themes. Not much more to say other than I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film again: it is like the films Hollywood used to make before.
